The Academy for Human Rights (AHR) is seeking mission-driven, diverse and compassionate individuals to help us fulfill our vision to ensure a more just, equitable, and sustainable world by creating an informed public, and lend collective force to change the world for good. We are currently seeking members with any of the following skills:

Goals of the Academy
To help our students of the Summer Symposium have the knowledge and skills necessary to lead contributory lives in their communities, nation, and world--especially in the arena of human rights education and genocide prevention.
To cultivate the next generation of concerned citizens that are necessary for the health of civil society.
To provide examples of past and current role models of citizen-leaders that participants can emulate.
To empower educators via our Teacher Trainings, civic leaders, and citizens to take part in their communities and to promote tolerance, understanding, and our shared humanity.

responsibilities
- Embrace the mission of the Academy
- Sign and abide by its Code of Ethics and Conflict of Interest Policies
- Regularly attend board meetings and other important related events
- Stay informed about organizational matters, prepare well for meetings, and review comments on minutes and reports
- Volunteer for, and willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and on-time
- Get to know other board members and build collegial working relationship and consensus
- Participate in fundraising for the organization
- Protect the confidentiality of all board and corporate communications
- Become an active member of one of the board's sub-committees: Governance, Finance, Fundraising, or Outreach
Qualifications to Apply
- Be invested in the mission and vision of the Academy
- Submit a completed application form with your resume or CV
- Confirm your ability to abide by the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct
- If requested, participate in a formal interview
- Agree to abide by any rules for candidates seeking election to the board
Board member termsBoard members serve two year terms with the possibility of renewal.
