The Culture Wars in Public SchoolsDr. Jonathan Zimmerman traces the history of how school systems and textbook publishers have navigated the conflict of whose stories in American history are told and how. From the efforts of immigrant groups in the 1920s, to civil rights groups in the 1960s, to the contemporary issue of Critical Race Theory, this program explored the dramatic story of conflict, compromise, and more conflict over the teaching of history in modern America.

Native America and the Question of GenocideDid Native Americans suffer genocide? This controversial question lies at the heart of Native America and the Question of Genocide. After reviewing the various meanings of the word 'genocide,' Alvarez examines a range of well-known examples, such as the Sand Creek Massacre, to determine where genocide occurred and where it did not. The book and this program explored the destructive beliefs of the Europeans settlers and looked at topics including disease, war, and education through the lens of genocide.

Leaving Kabul: We Thought We Had More TimeA conversation with Brian Castner, writer, former Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer, and veteran of the Iraq War. Castner serves as a Senior Crisis Advisor for Amnesty International and was on assignment when Kabul fell to the Taliban in August 2021. He shared his experience of fleeing the airport, his perspectives on Afghanistan, and why he was in country at the time.
