An impact IN THE CLASSROOM
Since its founding in 2008, our Summer Symposium has trained over 500 high school students in the Buffalo area. Taking the template from the Summer Symposium, our staff began providing teacher training in 2017. By signing up for an upcoming teacher training on the important issues of our day, you will walk away with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration that will renew your commitment the world's most consequential profession.

“The Human Rights Academy’s teacher conferences have been the best educational experiences in my career. I cannot begin to list what I learned and how I will bring this knowledge to the classroom.”
-Amber, Teacher Conference Participant
Beginning in 2017, the Academy for Human Rights embarked upon a commitment to help train and inspire the next generation of concerned educators. In that school year alone, it held two events which shaped the practices of over 200 local teachers, having an exponential impact of influencing close to 20,000 students. These trainings provide expert analysis and lesson plans on the most pressing issues of our day including civil rights, media literacy, Syria, North Korea, and the importance of protecting our democracy.
