Registration and Payment:
​The 2022 Summer Symposium, Buffalo:

Not Found In Textbooks -  July  11-15th 
​​Thank  you for registering your child for the Summer Symposium, Buffalo, sponsored by the Academy for Human Rights.

​Scholarships available for every student who needs it. Tuition for this year's Symposium is $175.00 U.S. 
Registration also include numerous books written by our speakers, art supplies for session with artist Nada Odeh, the program's T-Shirt, and numerous other extra materials for participants.


Summer Symposium Scholarships:

Due to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, scholarships for students are available. To apply for one, after completing the registration form below, click on the button that says "Submit and Go to Payment/Scholarship Page", which will give you additional instructions. We respectfully ask that scholarships be based upon significant economic need so that we can provide them to the most deserving families, as the Academy is a non-profit institution that has a volunteer staff. Thank you for your understanding and honesty.   

Steps To Register:

1) Complete the online form below.
​2) After completing the form, click the "Payment Preferences" button, then hit "Submit and Go To Payment/Scholarship" button at the bottom of this page.
3) Once you're done, you will receive a confirmation email immediately after--with an additional email coming a few days before the Symposium starts.

    PLEASE KNOW THAT BY CLICKING ON THE "SUBMIT" BUTTON BELOW,
    YOU ARE ALSO AGREEING TO THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR CHILD:
    Permission to Participate:  
    By submitting the above application, I give my permission for my  child to participate in the Summer Symposium and understand that there are risks involved with their participation, as well as for any occasional off-campus trips and their associated activities that some years offer. In consideration of my  child being allowed to participate,  I agree to hold harmless the Academy for Human Rights, Inc., its affiliated organizations, employees, Board, agents, and representatives from any and all claims arising from their participation. This release agreement does not apply to claims of intentional (criminal) misconduct or gross negligence by the organization, its employees, or volunteers. If such circumstances are proved in a court of law, I acknowledge  that the Academy can assume no financial liability beyond its actual liability insurance policy in force. I further understand that seeing that part of the Symposium’s curriculum is examining human rights abuses, that my child is emotionally capable of handling this serious material.
    Media Waiver Release:
    From time to time during and after the Symposium, students may be photographed or videotaped to increase public awareness of the program through newspapers, radio, TV, the web, DVDs, displays, brochures, and other types of media, including our website, Facebook page, Instagram page, and Twitter feed—as well as those of our partners and sponsors. Given that, by submitting the above application, I as a parent or guardian of the registered student above, hereby give the Symposium and the Academy for Human Rights permission to print, photograph, and record my child for use in audio, video, film, or any other electronic, digital and printed media. This is with the understanding that neither the Academy nor its representatives will reproduce said photograph, interview, or likeness for any commercial value or receive monetary gain for use of any reproduction/broadcast of said photograph or likeness. I hereby waive any right to approve the use of these works now or in the future, whether the use is known to me or unknown.

    Emergency Medical Release:

    Even though the 2022 Symposium is online, if a life-threatening emergency exists or any serious medical situation arises while my child is participating, , I give permission for the Symposium staff to call paramedics immediately and then contact me as soon as possible thereafter.

    I also  give my consent to any x-ray examination, anesthetic, medical, dental, or surgical treatment, and/or hospital care which, in the best judgment of a licensed physician, EMT/paramedic, or dentist is deemed advisable.

     
    I further agree to assume the financial responsibility for expenses incurred as a result of emergency transport and/or the previously mentioned services being provided.
